Boris

In 2001 Southern Lord released: "Absolutego (special low-frequency version)", from Boris. An intense, treacherous 65:34 (one song) journey into the abyss.. Enormously Epic Doom powerful enough to move mountains and decimate large cities. 2003 brings us another classic re-release from Boris in the mammoth form of: "Amplifier Worship". Nearly all their releases are impossible to find, Japan-only releases. So once again, another dark chapter from their massive body of recorded material is now available worldwide!

Like the strange packaging on "Absolutego" (orange jewel case with bright psychedelic artwork , seemingly resembling a Japanese toy), "Amplifier Worship" goes completely over the top with the most fucked up packaging ever! We won't ruin the surprise for you, but we will tell you that it involves candy and grotesquely bright colours!!!

Boris add a unique "experimentalist" ambience to all they touch. Which perfectly explains their involvement and collaboration with such cult-experimental artists like; Merzbow, and Keiji Haino. Every release from this group is different. Colossal in its own right. Earth moving drones swallow the listener whole. They have a lot in common with the Melvins musically, including a fondness for heavily down-tuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempo. But they also incorporate elements variously drawn from othersources, including psychedelic rock, punk, noise, minimalism, pure sludge-drone music à la Earth, and the more recent, rhythmic trance experiments of their countrymen the Boredoms.
