| 'Fake French,' El Guapo's second Dischord release,
brings brash art-punk to the post-millennial dance floor. Largely
self-recorded in numerous sessions over six months, the album
elicits comparisons to groundbreakers Devo, Suicide, Kraftwerk,
and Gang of Four as well as genre-busters Afrika Bambaatta,
the Stooges, Tom Waits, and Run-DMC. From the dark electro
anthem "Just Don't Know" to the B-boy-esque vocal
exchange of "Glass House," the New York/Washington
DC trio herein crystallizes its singular take on pop music. |
