The last gasp from the true founders of sickened-depressed torturous sludge-metal. A brutal compilation of all their split 7 inch and 10 inch material and unreleased demos. An honour for us here at Southern Lord to be releasing this! Grief can be credited with heavily impacting the doom scene and has been responsible for inspiring (or being blatantly ripped off by..) EYEHATEGOD,Iron Monkey, Soilent Green, Goatsnake, (16) etc..etc...
For the past 10 years Grief had been pounding out ultra-slow, doomed, mournful brutality with screaming vocal stylings. No one prior or since has touched the bleak landscape of alienation, drug/alcohol abuse, misanthropy, and betrayal portrayed in every song. Every chord is like a nuclear explosion of depression.
