The most brutally honest and intense musicians are capable of thinking out loud. From the cold-hearted ramblings of Hank Williams, Sr. to the rabid fits of Black Flag; from the anxious drone of the Stooges to the muffled resignation of Nick Drake, each of these artists has created songs with much more at stake than simply crafting postured and poised works of art. They expose their minds without any concern for the vulnerability of their thoughts. Scott Kelly proves to be among that rare breed.
Scott Kelly is one of three founding members of Oakland, California experimental hardcore band Neurosis. He has been writing and publishing music since 1985 with Neurosis, Tribes Of Neurot, Blood And Time and his solo acoustic project. He has also appeared in other recordings, most notably Mastodon's Leviathan (2004) (on the song "Aqua Dementia") and Blood Mountain (2006) (on the song "Crystal Skull").
Currently he is still writing, recording and performing with Neurosis and all of the related projects as well as being part owner of Neurosis' record label Neurot recordings. He also runs the Internet radio station/website Combat Music Radio.
