Chicago based Lair Of The Minotaur featuring members of Pelican and 7,000 Dying Rats landed on the Southern Lord roster last September with their debut release 'Carnage'. Lair Of The Minotaur combine the sounds of legendary old school metal bands like Celtic Frost, Venom and Slayer with the relentless bombast of High On Fire to create their crippling sound. Since the release of 'Carnage', Lair Of The Minotaur have religiously pounded the pavement and have plowed through many cities in North America, in support of their debut full length.
While committing themselves to numerous tours and shows, the Chicago trio found themselves supporting label mates such as Sunn O))), Goatsnake and the Hidden Hand. Recently, their reputation and underground status have helped them land strong shows with well known bands outside of the Southern Lord roster, such as High On Fire, Eyehategod, Unsane, Usurper and Darkest Hour. Hard work pays off. In recent months key metal rags and websites alike have consistently covered the band too.
Their fanbase continues to widen as music enthusiasts endeavour to explore the realms of what Southern Lord has to offer. A little over a year has passed since the release of 'Carnage' and the band has decided to release this special limited item, as a teasing glimpse of what their forthcoming second album will sound like. This EP contains two brand new songs recorded by Sanford Parker (Pelican, Venomous Concept and Unearthly Trance) and mastered by Pig Destroyer member Scott Hull. The CD version also includes the Mpeg video for LOTM classic 'The Wolf'.
