Lonely Ghosts

Biography

When Lonely Ghosts' sole member Tom Denney (perhaps better known for pop screamo band Help She Can't Swim), took the opportunity to explore what he could create outside of the group songwriting dynamic, he took a hand full of songs rattling around his head and retreated to his home studio with a laptop, a collection of guitars and keyboards and a CD of drum machine samples and settled into a personal experiment in solo song writing. He emerged 8 weeks later under the pseudonym of Lonely Ghosts with nearly an album's worth of material and a definitive project. Exploring more pop, electro and acoustic influences than HSCS, Lonely Ghosts is an eclectic amalgamation of sounds all held together by his love for a pure 'pop' tune.

The eclectic nature of Lonely Ghosts songs is mirrored in Denney's live shows which feature a selection of changing band members in different duties. To date, Lonely Ghosts shows have varied from high energy assaults of screaming vocals, guitars and beats, impromptu house party gigs to solo performances and piano renditions of synth pop songs. Lonely Ghosts has recently shared stages with the likes of Final Fantasy, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, The Death Set and Gay Against You. After a prolific year of song writing, and a bedroom recorded split 7" release, Denney finally took his home recordings into the studio with producer Justin Callaway (who recorded Help She Can't Swim's 2nd album The Death of Nightlife) to add finishing touches such as clarinet, horn, mellotron and gongs. The end result is Lonely Ghosts forthcoming mini-album Don't get lost or hurt, to be released on Brighton based label One Inch Badge Records (O.I.B. Records). As well as an as yet untitled full length record is set to follow later this year.
