Biography Guitarist and vocalist, Devin Ocampo (formerly of Faraquet and Smart Went Crazy) and drummer Andrew Becker met in early 2003 after Becker responded to an ad Ocampo had placed in a Washington, D.C. weekly. The two immediately began collaborating on Ocampo's compositions as well as writing new material. That summer, Becker and Ocampo made their live debut playing shows under various names, with a revolving cast of bass players. Finding themselves without a permanent bassist and eager to commit their material to tape, Ocampo called upon old friend and former Faraquet bandmate, Chad Molter to step in and assume low-end duties. The three hit it off immediately, generating ideas and writing songs at a frenetic pace. They entered the studio in early autumm to record a five song demo with local music stalwart Chad Clark (Beauty Pill, Smart Went Crazy).

Medications was fully realized in October 2003 when the three played their first show in a small Washington, D.C. arts space. The band continued playing regularly around D.C. earning a fervent following for their notoriously intense live performances.

In November 2004, Dischord released Medications' self-titled EP; a juxtaposition of religious adherence to and an atheistic rejection of the traditional pop song format. Medications succeed in employing everything that should not be, has not been and always will be, into the lost art of the song. Inimitable guitar lines, acrobatic bass work, unabashedly furious percussion and break-neck rhythms grapple with three part harmonies and melodic instrumental passages creating a genre-defying synthesis of the essential rock and roll elements.
