From the heart of the American Deep South, Southern Lord unleashed the 2002 Place of Skulls debut, Nailed, to a tangible buzz of anticipation and acclaim. Delivering on its promise of psychedelic lyrics and warm heavy riffs, that album's intensity and brave originality put Place of Skulls in a class of their own, providing doom-guitar hero Victor Griffin (ex-Pentagram, Death Row) with a committed outlet for unveiling the divine offerings of his extraordinary talent.

Now enter Scott "Wino" Weinrich (ex-Spirit Caravan, the Obsessed, St Vitus) and the future for Place of Skulls has just stepped up several notches. Entitled to share with Victor Griffin the "godfather of doom rock" accolade, Wino has influenced an incredibly diverse range of bands from Fugazi (Fugazi bassist Joe Lally released the two Spirit Caravan albums) to the Foo Fighters. As well as Place of Skulls, Wino is also a member of Hidden Hand and is rumoured to be appearing on Dave Grohl and Matt Sweeney's Probot project.

With Vision is the first album to feature the dynamic duo lineup of Victor Griffin and Wino (completed by Tim Tomaselli on drums and a mystery bass player). This collaboration between the two long time friends has given them both the rare chance to play in a dual guitar, dual vocal lineup. Relishing the task, the two doom lords trade off each other, allowing Griffin's forthright and confident vocals to contrast with Wino's darker and more ominous tones. The guitars also play off each other to exceptional effect, giving each player free reign to let loose with a barrage of heavy riffs and warm, intricate soloing. With Vision blends the best qualities of each member to create something very new and very heavy, with power... with conviction... with passion... WITH VISION!
