Silvester Anfang are a funeral folk collective from Belgium. They record in a shared space in Maldegem, with a fiercely independent spirit of experimentation and dedication to lo-fi. The results are organic and sinuous as they create their own Pagan Belgo-psych. They initially formed as a three-piece: Per, Edgar and Hellvete, soon after PI666 joined, then Ignatius Van Kempenhof. The pressures of Flemish life grew too much however, and PI666 left to become a vulcanologist in Geneva - fact. Klappende Gerre soon joined, and they currently remain a five-piece.
The collective often record as individuals under the funeral folk banner, with many self-released cassettes and CD-rs thus far sent out into the wide world.
They released their debut LP 'Satanische Vrede' on the Belgian (K-RAA-K)³ label to serious acclaim from the likes of 'Aquarius' and 'Arthur Magazine'. Though due to release an LP on the cult US label Eclipse in 2007, we at Aurora Borealis are very proud to foist 'Kosmies Slachtafval', their first ever full length compact disc release onto an unsuspecting public.
