Striborg

Biography

King of Tasmanian black metal Striborg has earned near-legendary status in the genre’s underworld since he began recording in 1997, despite not officially releasing any records until 2006. Also known as Sin-Nanna (after which Sunn O))), huge fans of Striborg, named a track on their Black One album) Striborg pioneered the bleak, misanthopic, sluggish black metal sound, characterised by blurred walls of guitar and ethereally slow riffs, and his work has been a major influence on artists like Khanate), Leviathan and Xasthur. Slavonic mythology, and a Sumerian crescent moon - fitting symbols for a darkly pagan music that evokes the eerie melancholy minimalism of great black metal pioneers like Burzum and Bathory.
