Southern Lord has re-packaged and re-issued the "Live" album from Vitus with an extensive boolet featuring liner notes and many never before published photos. Several Vitus classics like: "Born Too Late", "Dying Inside", and "Living Backwards" are performed with a raw aggressive energy that only a live Vitus show could evoke. The performance captured on this album is from one of the first Vitus shows in Germany circa late 1990. This new and doomed version of "Live" is an essential chapter in (Doom)-Metal history.
Saint Vitus were three premiere American doom metal act of the 80's. Along with Trouble and the Obsessed, Vitus were pioneers of true-Doom Metal. They were one of the first to fuse the behemoth riffage and bleak atmosphere of Black Sabbath with the desperate aggression of punk rock ala Black Flag. Their eponymous 1984 debut was released by Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn's SST Records, and was followed in quick succession by the Walking Dead EP and Hallow's Victim album the very next year.
