Trencher are a Casio-grindcore trio from London. Their debut album, When Dracula Thinks 'Look at Me', was released in early 2004 and quickly sold out on the back of their extensive European tour; the record's unmistakable sound featured a hatful of brutally fast, funny and deceptively complex songs, all bashed out on bass, drums and a toy keyboard in just seventeen minutes. It's lots of fun, and totally absurd! Their penchant for touring has seen them grow into a stunningly accomplished live act, with Pox's chainsaw bass and savage vocals crashing over the top of Lock's absurdly powerful drumming.
A repress of Dracula... is now available on Southern Records. The band have a deranged cult following in Europe, bolstered by the band's enthusiastic endorsement of misshapen formats (5 inch vinyl, 2 inch CD, Video, Cassette, DVD, rock faces, mountain tops and transmitted via the glass tears of dead innocents) and commitment to touring the furthest reaches of the continent; 2006 saw them on the road supporting the release of their debut album for Southern, Lips. The material on this split LP comprises Trencher's most realised work to date – a bludgeoning feast of pummeling abstract metal punctuated by yells, hollers and the occasional keyboard assault, Lips is prog by comparison with the astounding brevity of Dracula... and Trencher's earlier work, only even more fun. Trencher epitomise what is most exciting about underground music in the UK right now, November 2007 will see them storm the Atlantic with a two week tour of the US of A.
