Song Of The Week: Goon Moon - Licker's Last Leg - "Feel Like This" >> mp3

On the 21st May across Europe something very exciting will explode like a balloon filled with all your favourite candy! That's right, Goon Moon are releasing their debut album on Ipecac, Licker's Last Leg. This album has been five years in the making but the wait is almost over!

Goon Moon is the brainchild of two main men, Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson fame and bass player in Nine Inch Nails and Chris Goss guitarist and singer in Masters Of Reality. Also making cameos on this musical marvel is Zach Hill (Hella) Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age) Josh Freese (The Vandals, Devo) and Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal) , Mondo Generator to name a few! To mark the occasion of such a memorable release we decided to crown the song 'Feel Like This' as our song of the week this week.

In my opinion we could not have picked a better song as it showcases the band's fusion of retro-rock and exuberant vocal melodies, creating a highly satisfying pop track. Also instantly recognisable in this song (and in fact the whole album) is the notorious Desert Sessions style (which is of course a musical collective founded by Josh Homme back in 1997, a collective that members and contributors of Goon Moon have been heavily involved in).
